Art & Design Co-ordinator: Mrs Debbie Cameron
At Cutteslowe Primary School our Art curriculum is designed to inspire and engage children in a wide range of artistic experiences, helping them develop essential skills. The children follow a two-year rolling cycle during which they explore and refine their skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, textiles and digital media.
We aim to:
-
Foster creativity and imaginative thinking
-
Develop technical skills in a variety of mediums
-
Encourage self-expression and confidence
-
Introduce children to famous artists, art history and cultural influences
-
Promote reflection on their work and the work of others
At Cutteslowe we value the role of visiting artists and art historians to enable the children to view themselves as artists. Art plays an important role in our school community, and we celebrate children’s achievements through exhibitions and collaborative projects with other schools.
